Werner Schmah

Werner Schmah (* 1926 in Berlin ; † 1997 there ) was a German pop singer ( baritone ).

Werner Schmah learned a commercial profession, but was drafted into the Wehrmacht as early as 1943 . During the Second World War he lost both hands and part of his eyesight. As a result, he was unable to return to his traditional profession after the end of the war. From 1945 to 1948 he received vocal training ; From May 1947 he took part in recordings with various orchestras for the RIAS in West Berlin, for Radio Berlin in East Berlin and later for the NWDR .

Schmah also recorded a number of popular numbers and hits in the late 1940s and early 50s; his best-known song was probably don't look at me like that (Amiga A1188), the first German-language cover version of the chanson La vie en rose , recorded in 1949 with the Walter Dobschinski orchestra , with which he also wrote the title When the bells sound bright (Amiga # 1214 ) recorded.
