Werner Vogt (historian)

Werner Vogt (born June 3, 1924 in Monzingen ; † December 19, 2006 in Sobernheim ) was a local scientist and historian in the Nahe and Hunsrück area .

Werner Vogt first attended the elementary school in his place of birth. After his parents moved to Bad Kreuznach , he attended the Staatliche Altsprachliche Gymnasium from 1934 to 1942. After serving in the war, he majored in history as a teacher at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. In 1955 he got a job as a teacher in Sobernheim , where he has lived ever since. In the same year he received his doctorate magna cum laude for Dr. phil. The title of his dissertation was " Investigations into the history of Bad Kreuznach and the neighboring territories in the early and high Middle Ages ". In 1978 Dr. Vogt then permanent representative of the headmaster.

With his wife Emilie geb. Marx, with whom he was married since 1952, he had two sons (1954 Hermann and 1955 Jürgen). In the local area he was a representative in the culture committee of the district and a member of the district council from 1972 to 1974. He was the author of numerous publications of articles and book reviews. Dr. Werner Vogt died as director of studies i. R. at the age of 82 and is buried in the cemetery in Bad Kreuznach.

Cultural activities

His engagement in the cultural field extended among other things to:

  • Member of the working group for the local history of the Nahe-Hunsrück area,
  • Chairman (1975–1992) of the Association for Local History for City and District
  • Collaboration and responsible for the Naheland calendar and the local history series of the district,
  • Seat on the Board of Trustees for the Karl Geib Museum,
  • Pedagogical director of the Heimvolkshochschule Schloss Dhaun
  • Long-term chairman (20 years) in the Friends' Association of the Rhineland-Palatinate Open Air Museum
  • Head of the local science central library in Bad Kreuznach.
  • Bad Kreuznacher Heimatblätter.
