Werner Vontobel

Werner Vontobel (born April 28, 1946 ) is a Swiss economist , journalist and publicist .

Life

Werner Vontobel studied economics at the University of Basel . He was a correspondent for various newspapers, e. B. the Weltwoche or the Tages-Anzeiger , in Brussels and Bonn. He was a member of the editor-in-chief of the Swiss business magazine Cash . He has been the business editor at SonntagsBlick since summer 2003 and also writes regularly for Blick am Abend .

Vontobel deals with fundamental questions of economic policy and theory and has published several books on this topic. Vontobel states that he is writing for "people who - like me - do not want to understand why an efficient economy like ours does so little to make our lives friendlier."

In 1996 he published together with Hanspeter Guggenbühl and Urs P. Gasche Das Geschwätz von der Free Marktwirtschaft in which he tries to uncover the contradictions of the market preachers with their actions. In 1998, Vontobel launched the essay The Wealth Machine. The disaster of neoliberalism commanded a plea for classical political liberalism against neoliberal betrayal of the market economy .

Honor

2001 «Goldene Brille» - media prize of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW) for the work «Economy without Blinders» , a series of articles published in Cash, which was unanimously chosen by the jury .
