Wervershoof ( West Frisian Wurreversoôf ) is a place and a former municipality in the Dutch province of North Holland . It is located in West Friesland and has belonged to the municipality of Medemblik since January 1, 2011 .
) (Location and economy
Wervershoof is only a few kilometers south of Medemblik , on the IJsselmeer . The nearest train station is in Hoogkarspel, in Stede Broec , five kilometers to the south.
The village has some tourism and small businesses, but the main sources of income are horticulture and agriculture. In the Onderdijk district, an old forge has been set up as a museum workshop. In Wervershoof itself there is a remarkable old windmill.

history
There are different versions of the origin of the place name Wervershoof. For many, the name is derived from the preacher Sankt Werenfridus .
The village was quite small between 1400 and 1800. The population fluctuated between 250 and 400. When the place became an independent municipality in 1817, it grew to almost 800 inhabitants by 1868. After the Second World War , the population increased again quite sharply, because especially for commuters who u. a. work in Hoorn , a new district was built.
