Wesley JaMarr Johnson (born July 11, 1987 in Corsicana , Texas ) is an American basketball player .

college

After two years basketball at Iowa State University, Johnson moved to Syracuse University after completing his sophomore year . According to NCAA regulations, he had to suspend his junior year due to the change. The fourth year he played for the Syracuse Orangemen basketball team . After a successful season in which he was named Big East Player of the Year , he decided to leave college and play in the NBA from then on.

NBA

In the NBA draft , Johnson was drafted fourth by the Minnesota Timberwolves . In his first year Johnson scored 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. At the end of the season he was called up to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team .

In the summer of 2012 he was transferred to the Suns as part of an exchange between the Wolves, New Orleans Hornets and Phoenix Suns .

In the 2013 offseason he was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers . He plays there for a minimum salary of $ 1 million . He started in 62 of 79 games for the Lakers and scored 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Despite missing the playoffs, Johnson extended his contract for another year in the summer.

In the summer of 2015, Johnson moved to the Lakers' city rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers .
