Wessele ( Ukrainian Веселе ; Russian Весёлое Wesjoloje ) is a village in the north of the Ukrainian Oblast Kharkiv with about 1,300 inhabitants (2001).
The village, first mentioned in 1732, is the administrative center of the district council of the same name , to which the villages of Selene ( Зелене ) and Neskutschne ( Нескучне ) as well as the settlement of Male Wessele ( Мале Веселе ) belong.
Wessele on the banks of square kilometers for four large Muromske reservoir dammed Murom ( Муром ), a 35 km long tributary of Kharkiv in the north of Kharkiv Raion near the Russian-Ukrainian border 40 km northeast of Oblastzentrum Kharkiv .
Personalities
The Ukrainian painter and graphic artist Mychajlo Derehus was born in the village in 1904 .
