Districts and clubs of the West German Hockey Association

The West German Hockey Association (WHV) is the regional association with the largest number of members in the German Hockey Association . Its association area is almost congruent with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . In addition, the four hockey clubs of the Osnabrücker Land from Lower Saxony and the HTC Bad Neuenahr from Rhineland-Palatinate are members of the WHV. A total of 20,266 members play in 85 clubs. Since the merger of the Linker Niederrhein and Berg-Mark districts to form the Rhein-Wupper district, the association has been divided into four districts. Other districts are the Rhine District, Ruhr District and Westphalia.

The WHV organizes the Regionalliga West and in this function is to a certain extent its own regional association. In the adult field, the WHV is responsible for all field hockey games below the national leagues: Regionalliga West, Oberliga West A and B, 1st Association League A – D and 2nd Association League A – D (men only). In indoor hockey, the districts take on the implementation of the 2nd and 3rd leagues. The women's area is again completely organized by the regional league up to the 2nd association league by the WHV.
