Westerholz ( Low German Westerholt ) is a district of the community Scheeßel in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

The place is 5 km west of the center of Scheeßel and 7 km north of Rotenburg (Wümme) . The A1 runs west 9 km away. To the west of the village lies the Bullerberg , at 53 meters one of the highest peaks in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district .

history

Since March 1, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Westerholz has been part of the Scheeßel community. The former school has a remarkable, elaborate roof structure and a bell tower . Today it is used by a play group.

Associations and institutions

The clubs in Westerholz include the Schützenverein Westerholz , the Turn- und Sportverein Westerholz eV and the Low German Theater Group eV Westerholter Eekenkring .

The Golf Club Wümme eV has its premises in Westerholz (Hof Emmen).
