geography

Geographical location

Aerial view

Gütenbach is located in the central Black Forest , about 7 km west of the city of Furtwangen in the Black Forest, near the Rhine-Danube watershed (Rhine side). The Teichbach flows through the village, formed by the Vordertalbach and the Hintertalbach, which flow together in the center of the village. After flowing through the pond gorge , the Teichbach flows into the Wilde Gutach at the so-called Pfaffmühle .

The municipal area extends over an altitude of 530 to 1120 meters and has a high relief energy . The Gütenbach settlement is a clustered village in an overall rural area that is characterized by a negative population balance.

The soils are mainly composed of less thick brown soils and tendrils that could develop on the Variscan basement, consisting of granites and gneisses. Accordingly, the settlement guidelines lie along notch valleys or invert valleys . More than 62% of the district area is forested, which results in a heavy podsolization of the soil.

The community borders the city of Furtwangen in the east, St. Märgen in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district in the south and Simonswald in the Emmendingen district in the west and north .
