Career

Kevin Westgarth began his career as a hockey player at Princeton University , which he attended from 2003 to 2007, while playing for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . On March 16, 2007, the winger signed a contract as a free agent with the Los Angeles Kings , for whose farm team Manchester Monarchs from the American Hockey League he made his professional ice hockey debut towards the end of the 2006/07 season . In the following three seasons he was also a regular with the Monarchs in the AHL, where he came in parallel for the Los Angeles Kings to his first nine appearances in the National Hockey League in the 2008/09 season . In the 2010/11 season , the Canadian spent an entire season in the NHL for the first time and prepared five goals for the LA Kings in a total of 62 games. In the 2011/12 season he won the Stanley Cup for the first time with the Los Angeles Kings and was immortalized on the cup, although he had only played 25 games in the regular season. In January 2013, Westgarth was transferred to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Anthony Stewart , a four-round suffrage in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and a six- round suffrage in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft . On December 30th he was swapped for Greg Nemisz to the Calgary Flames that same year .

With the Flames, his contract was not renewed at the end of the 2013/14 season, so that from then on he was looking for a new employer as a free agent . He found this at the end of October 2014 in the Belfast Giants from the British Elite Ice Hockey League .
