Westphalia is a place in the US state of Kansas in Anderson County . In 2000 Westphalia had 165 inhabitants in 66 households and 39 families. Westphalia has an area of 0.5 km² and a population density of 318.5 inhabitants / km².

The place is east of Topeka , not far from the border with Missouri .
history
Westphalia was founded in 1879. The post office was opened in the same year. In 1880 two German settlers from Westphalia (Iowa) bought 320 acres of land and built some buildings. In 1881 the place got its name. The first Catholic church was also consecrated in 1881. The Catholic school opened in 1883. In 1899 the place burned down completely and was rebuilt in 1900.
