Whitefield Castle

Whitefield Castle is the ruin of a lowland castle ( Tower House ) with L-shaped floor plan on a hill above the village of Kirk Michel in Strath Ardle in the Scottish administration unit Perth and Kinross .

history

Malcolm Canmore had the Tower House built as a hunting lodge in the 12th century . In 1577 the Spalding clan , to which it belonged at the time, had it expanded. Today it is a ruin.

An underground tunnel should also belong to the castle, as is often the case with old dwellings. This tunnel is intended to connect the Tower House with Ashintully Castle .

Historic Environment Scotland has listed Whitefield Castle as a Category B Historic Building.
