The Whymper Spur is a 1250 m high rock spur in the East Antarctic Coatsland . It rises east of Blanchard Hill in the Pioneers Escarpment of the Shackleton Range .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1971 after the British mountaineer Edward Whymper (1840-1911), first to climb the Matterhorn and developer of an expedition tent that was also named after him.
