The Wiembecke or Wiembeke is a historically documented brook in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Lippe in what is now the city of Lemgo . The stream flows through the Passade , Bega and Werre to the Weser .

Surname

The body of water 1403 is documented as "[besides the] Wygenbecke" and "ute der Wygenbeke" at the earliest and is linked to the place name Wiembeck (1319 as "Wigenbecke") or derived from it. In addition to the Middle Low German root word -beke for "Bach" is for the qualifier by a patronymic, an old Saxon male personal names in the genitive * Wigo (* Wīgen- ) considered most likely.

location

The location of the historically documented body of water is unclear. The probable solution is assumed to be an identity with what is now known as the Bruchbach , which flows through the village of Wiembeck.
