Vienna autumn marathon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vienna Autumn Marathon (official name Autumn Marathon of the LCC Vienna ) is a marathon in Vienna that has been held annually at the end of October since 2003. The organizer is LCC Vienna . In addition to the classic 42.195 km route, the program also includes a half marathon and a trial run of currently 7 km.

The officially measured according to the guidelines of the AIMS, with a height difference of less than one meter between the lowest and highest point, leads through the Vienna Prater . Until 2006, a 10 km circuit was run with start and finish in the Ernst Happel Stadium . This led over the main avenue to the Volksprater, then over the Rotunda avenue , the Rustenschacherallee and the Lusthausstraße back to the main avenue, with an additional loop with a turning point at the Lusthaus added in the fourth round of the marathon .

Because of the renovation work that was carried out on the Ernst Happel Stadium with a view to the European Football Championship in 2008 , the run was relocated to a 7 km circuit in 2007, which runs across the main avenue and around the Obere Heustadlwasser.

In 2007 Susanne Pumper set an Austrian national record in the half marathon at this event.
