Wiepenkathen is the largest district of Stade in the Stade district of the same name in Lower Saxony . It has about 4000 inhabitants and was first mentioned in 1204.
Wiepenkathen is one of four localities in Stade and - in contrast to other parts of the city - has its own municipal representative body, a local council.
The place is four kilometers southwest of the city center of Stade on the federal highway 74 . The bus route to the city of Stade is the 2007 route.
The Schwinge flows east 1.5 km away.
On July 1, 1972 Wiepenkathen was incorporated into the district town of Stade.
