Wiesław Józef Dobkowski (born January 2, 1953 in Rząśnik Szlachecki ) is a Polish politician ( Prawo i Sprawiedliwość ). Since 2007 he has been a member of the Senate of the Republic of Poland ( 7th , 8th and 9th electoral terms ).

Wiesław Dobkowski attended the technical college with a focus on electronics ( Technikum Elektryczne ) in Ostrów Mazowiecka and then studied at the electrical engineering faculty of the Technical University of Łódź . After completing his studies in 1978, Dobkowski worked at the housing cooperative in Piotrków Trybunalski until 1980 . In 1980 he started to work at the Bełchatów lignite mine in Rogowiec , where he was a member of the works council, works council chairman and deputy works council chairman in the 1990s, where he has been director of the engineering and construction department since 2006. In 2008 he completed postgraduate studies in industrial management at the Technical University of Łódź and in 2010 in fundamentals of business law at the University of Łódź .

When the NSZZ "Solidarność" was founded in 1980 , he became a member. After the introduction of martial law in Poland , his activities shifted underground. As Vice-President of Solidarność in the Piotrków Voivodeship , he was involved in the 1989 election campaign in the first partially free elections since the Second World War. Just one year later, he helped found the Porozumienie Centrum and, in the early 2000s, helped found Prawo i Sprawiedliwość .

For the first time in an election Dobkowski took part in the self-government elections for the Sejmik of the Łódź Voivodeship in 2006 and was able to win a mandate for this regional council. The next year he took part in the parliamentary elections , and was able to win a mandate for the VII Senate of the Republic of Poland in constituency No. 10 . He received 76,708 (26.20%) of the valid votes cast and was able to win both mandates in the constituency for Prawo i Sprawiedliwość together with his party colleague Grzegorz Wojciechowski (81,692 votes, 27.90%). During the term he was a member of the Budget and Finance Committee, the Health Committee and until January 14, 2009 a member of the Economics Committee.

In 2011 he ran again for a seat in the Senate of the Republic of Poland, but this time after the change from multi-person constituencies to single-person constituencies in the newly established constituency No. 28 . There he sat down with 51,797 of the valid votes cast (36.16%), among others, against the former Sejm -Abgeordneten Bogdan Bujak from the Democratic Left Alliance (22,065 votes, 15.41%) by. During the 8th electoral term he was a member of the Defense Committee and the Committee on Emigration Issues and Contacts with Poles Abroad.

In the 2015 parliamentary elections , Dobkowski again defended his mandate in constituency no.28. In this election, with 71,764 (46.92%) of the valid votes cast, he defended Adam Macierewicz (23,122 votes, 14.92%), cousin of Antoni Macierewicz and candidate of Platforma Obywatelska , and Marek Mazur (20,129 votes, 12.98%), chairman of the Sejmik of the Łódź Voivodeship since 2006 and candidate of the Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe .
