The Wiesenbach is a small valley stream in the basement in the Essen district of Kettwig . It is an almost one and a half kilometer long, western and left tributary of the Ruhr .

The Wiesenbach rises at an altitude of about 90  m above sea level. NHN in a mixed forest north of the Pasberg .

The stream first flows northeast to the Hessenhof, from there to the northwest to Landstrasse 442. Then it runs along the Ruhr meadows to the Cammerzell campsite . There it finally flows out at an altitude of about 43  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the Ruhr , which is dammed up here to the Kettwiger See.

The 1.4 km long course of the Wiesenbach ends about 47 meters below its source, so it has a mean bed gradient of about 34 ‰.

Catchment area

The 0.7018 km² catchment area of the Wiesenbach lies in the Ruhr Valley and is drained through it via the Ruhr and the Rhine to the North Sea.

It borders

  • in the east and southeast to the catchment area of ​​the Hitzbleckbach , which flows into the Oefter Bach;
  • and in the southwest of the Laupendahler Bach , which drains over the Rinderbach into the Ruhr.

The catchment area in the south and north-west is largely forested, the central area is characterized by arable land and in the north-east, grassland predominates.
