The Hitzbleckbach is a small valley creek in the basement in the Essen district of Kettwig . It is an almost two kilometer long, southern and left tributary of the Oefter Bach .

The Hitzbleckbach rises at a height of about 137  m above sea level. NHN in a meadow southeast of the Pasberg between the Buschkothen and Hitzbleck residential areas.

The stream first flows in a north-northeast direction for almost a kilometer through mixed forest, then enters the open corridor, changes to the north and then runs east past the Hessenhof. It then flows through a small deciduous forest and shortly afterwards a golf course.

It finally flows east of Oefte Castle at an altitude of about 49  m above sea level. NHN from the left into the Oefter Bach approaching from the east .

The approximately 1.9 km long course of the Hitzbleckbach ends approximately 88 meters below its source, so it has a mean bed gradient of approximately 46 ‰.

Catchment area

The 1.04 km² catchment area of the Hitzbleckbach lies in the Heiligenhauser Terrassen and in the Ruhr Valley . It is drained through it over the Oefter Bach, the Ruhr and the Rhine to the North Sea.

The catchment area borders

  • in the east to the catchment area of ​​the Rommersbach , which flows into the Oefter Bach;
  • in the southeast to that of the Birther Bach , which flows into the Rommersbach;
  • in the south to that of the Isenbügeler Bach , which drains over the Rinderbach into the Ruhr;
  • in the south-west to that of the Laupendahler Bach , which is also a tributary of the Rinderbach;
  • and in the west to that of the small Ruhr tributary Wiesenbach .

The catchment area in the area of ​​the upper reaches is mostly forested, the middle is characterized by arable land and on the lower reaches grassland predominates.
