description
The game park, which is open all year round, has an area of 50 hectares, on which around 150 animals from around 25 species are kept in extensive grounds. Mainly European wildlife species can be seen. Fallow deer , red deer and roe deer , mouflon , Sika , Dybowski, a subspecies of the Sika deer , and wild boar , chamois and ibex live on extensive forest and meadow areas . In the park there is a children's playground, a petting zoo with goats and a restaurant. All paths are wheelchair accessible. In the middle part of the park, the Ehrenbach was crossed on a timber bridge in half-timbered construction. As renovation was too expensive, this was demolished in 2011 and the medium-long one of three circular routes was slightly extended. Wild birds and game birds can be seen on a 6000 square meter pond. In 2008 an aviary with snow owls was opened and young foxes settled in an enclosure of 200 square meters. Since 2011 there has been an aviary with black grouse , which is threatened with extinction in the Rhön. The animals kept are breeding birds, the aviary was co-financed by the Rhön Biosphere Reserve . In autumn 2012 a biotope for otters , also funded by the biosphere reserve, was added.
There are cages for raccoons , peacocks and pheasants in the entrance area of the wildlife park . Since 2013 there has been a thought path (R) for the mind with 13 information boards in the park. For some time now, a group of bison can also be seen. In an accessible game gate, visitors can make direct contact with the dams kept there without being separated by a fence and let them eat out of their hands.
