Wilhelm August Jurek

Wilhelm August Jurek (born April 29, 1870 in Vienna ; † April 9, 1934 there ) was an Austrian Kapellmeister , conductor and composer .

Wilhelm A. Jurek joined the Kuk Infantry Regiment Hoch- und Deutschmeister No. 4 in 1891 and served it for three years. Then he became an official of the state printing office. In 1921 Jurek was appointed chief controller i. R. Honorary member of the Deutschmeisterbund.

He made himself as a military bandmaster and choir conductor as well as a composer of the well-known " Deutschmeister-Regimentsmarsches ", which he assigned to Infantry Regiment No. 4 Hoch- und Deutschmeister dedicated one name. Jurek composed over 300 works for orchestra as well as dance music, songs and works for brass music.

Jurek was featured in the 1955 feature film Die Deutschmeister , which deals with the development of the Deutschmeister regimental march, by Siegfried Breuer jr. played.

He was buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 31B, Row 12, Number 15) in an honorary grave . In 1938, the Jurekgasse in Vienna Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus (15th district) was named after him.
