Wilhelm Banse

Wilhelm Banse (born April 18, 1911 in Cologne , † April 16, 1965 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German journalist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending grammar school, Banse completed an apprenticeship as a pharmacist at Handelsgesellschaft Deutscher Apotheker AG in Cologne and then worked in the profession he had learned. In 1925 he had joined the Central Association of Employees (ZdA). After the National Socialists came to power, he moved from Cologne for political reasons. He was initially unemployed until 1935 and then worked for pharmaceutical companies in Erfurt , Frankfurt am Main , Darmstadt and Krefeld . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . At the end of the war he was taken prisoner, from which he was released in March 1946. From 1946 he worked as a journalist for newspapers, magazines and radio.

Political party

Banse had joined the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) in 1925 , became a member of the youth organization of the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold in the same year and joined the SPD in 1928. In 1931 he switched to the SAPD . After his release from captivity, he was again a member of the Social Democrats, for which he worked as party secretary from 1947.

MP

Banse was a member of the district council of the Wetzlar district from 1948 to 1951 and was elected to the Offenbach district in May 1952 . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1957. In parliament he represented the direct mandate of the Offenbach constituency .
