Gustav Karl Wilhelm Siemens

Gustav Karl Wilhelm Siemens (born August 12, 1806 in Aerzen ; † May 26, 1874 in Hanover ) was a German lawyer and politician from the Siemens family .

Life

Siemens studied law at the University of Göttingen from 1823 and was a member of the Osnabrugia Landsmannschaft. In 1826 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. In 1826 he became an auditor at the city court in Hanover, in 1835 city court secretary, then city court assessor. Until 1854 he was also a lawyer in Hanover. In 1854 he was appointed chief magistrate, in 1860 Ministerialrat in the Hanoverian Ministry of the Interior.

In 1837 Siemens was a member of the 2nd Chamber of the General Assembly of the Kingdom of Hanover. In 1848 he was a member of the trade club in Frankfurt am Main. He belonged to the pre-parliament , the Fifties Committee and from May 20, 1848 to May 24, 1849 of the Frankfurt National Assembly ( Casino ). In June 1849 he took part in the Gotha assembly . Siemens elected Friedrich Wilhelm IV. As Emperor of the Germans.

He was a brother of Adolf and Carl Georg Siemens and a third cousin of the inventor and company founder Werner von Siemens . Gustav's son, the electrical engineer Alexander Siemens (1847-1928) was director of the British branch of Siemens Brothers & Co. .
