Wilhelm Christian von der Recke

Wilhelm Christian von der Recke (born February 28, 1741 in Uentrop ; † May 25, 1819 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) was a royal Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the body cuirassier regiment .

origin

His parents were Friedrich Christian von der Recke (* March 5, 1693; † February 10, 1744) and his wife Engel Luisa von der Recke (* July 29, 1720; † July 13, 1797) from the Haaren family. His father was the heir to house Uentrop as well as Westhaus ( Pelkum ) and Niederhaus ( Herringen ).

Life

He joined the body cuirassier regiment in 1755 as a standard junker. During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles near Prague , Kolin and Torgau . He became a cornet on January 20, 1757 and a lieutenant on August 18, 1760.

After the war, on January 2, 1767, he became staff commander and on April 5, 1769, cavalry officer and company commander. On June 17, 1775 he became major and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On October 1, 1784, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on September 30, 1784 with a patent. On May 25, 1787 he was promoted to colonel. On May 10, 1792 he received his resignation as major general and a pension of 800 thalers. After he left, he first lived in Salze near Magdeburg (today probably: Bad Salzelmen ). He made an application for a chamber gentleman position , which was rejected on December 4, 1797, as there was no vacancy. After the lost war of 1806 , his pension was canceled. On December 10, 1807, he received the notification to apply to his sovereign, the King of Württemberg, for a pension. He died on May 25, 1819 in Brandenburg an der Havel.

He married on March 17, 1778 in Schönebeck on the Elbe Luise Christiane von Trotha widowed von Maltitz (* February 4, 1743, † December 29, 1812). Luise brought two daughters into the marriage:
