Wilhelm Crone (writer)

Wilhelm Crone (born December 23, 1873 in Ankum -Rüssel, † December 24, 1938 in Ennepetal -Voerde) was a German writer, teacher and local researcher.

Life

Crone grew up on his grandfather's farm in Restrup, now part of Bippen . He attended secondary school in Melle and Osnabrück . From 1894 he was a teacher in Münkeboe in East Frisia and from 1897 in Ennepetal- Voerde .

Crone wrote poems in Low German and published texts on local history.

A local history museum that Crone founded in Ennepetal-Voerde in 1927 and that was named after him was closed in 1969. It contained an extensive local history collection that was given to the LWL-Freilichtmuseum Hagen after the dissolution .
