Wilhelm Dröscher (born November 25, 1860 in Schwerin ; † February 11, 1939 there ; full name: Wilhelm Ulrich Theodor Dröscher ) was a statistician and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Wilhelm Dröscher was born as the son of the bookbinder August Dröscher (* 1819) and his wife Dorothee (* 1821) in Schwerin. From 1866 to 1870 he attended the community school in his hometown, then the Grand Ducal Realgymnasium there until 1878 and finally the University of Leipzig until 1881 , where he received his doctorate in the summer of 1881. This was followed by a stay of several years in England. From 1884 to 1885 he was at the University of Rostock . He traveled to France, Norway, Russia, Austria and passed the senior teacher examination in 1886. In October 1886 he joined the Grand Ducal Realgymnasium in Schwerin and was a senior teacher there until 1900. From October 1, 1900 to 1918 he was director of the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg-Schwerin Statistical Office in Schwerin.

Dröscher was a lieutenant in the Landwehr, chairman of the master craftsman's examination commission for the Mecklenburg handicrafts, chairman of the Mecklenburg Fisheries Association and member of the board of the German Fisheries Association . He was also the editor of the Fischerei-Zeitung and the author of various publications on fishing content. He was the bearer of the Royal Prussian Order of the Crown III. Class and the military service award II class.

From 1903 to November 1904 and from 1907 to 1912 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin 2 ( Schwerin , Wismar ) and the German Conservative Party . In November 1904, the Reichstag's electoral examination committee declared Dröscher's election invalid.

After 1918 he was a managing board member of the Reich Association of German Sea and Coastal Fisheries.
