Wilhelm Ferdinand Souchon (born January 17, 1825 in Halberstadt , † October 26, 1876 in Weimar ) was a German history and genre painter.

Souchon studied from 1841 at the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin with August Rémy and from November 11, 1848 to 1851 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Wilhelm von Kaulbach and Hermann Anschütz . He spent the period from 1851 to 1854 in Rome and Naples . He visited the Prussian ambassador Guido von Usedom in Rome .

In 1855 he settled in Leipzig , where he devoted himself to history, church and genre painting.

Souchon created a cycle of 30 biblical images for the Greek Catholic Church in Leipzig . He also painted a picture of Christ in the church in Thronitz near Lützen and a Last Supper in the church in Grunau near Weißenfels .

From 1867 he worked in Weimar.

In addition to his own work, he also copied works by other artists, including a. Benjamin Vautier .

His works appeared in the "Gartenlaube" .
