Wilhelm Freudenberg (composer)

Wilhelm Freudenberg (born March 11, 1838 in Raubach near Neuwied , † May 22, 1928 in Schweidnitz ) was a German composer , conductor and theater director.

From his life

Born as the son of an owner of the Raubacher Hütte, Freudenberg studied Protestant theology in Heidelberg after attending grammar school in Duisburg . During his studies he became a member of the Frankonia Heidelberg / Badenia fraternity in the winter semester of 1856/57 . In 1858 he went to Leipzig , where he studied music at the conservatory .

Wilhelm Freudenberg was an older brother of the women's rights activist Ika Freudenberg .
