Live and act

The Minden-born Funck followed the call of the city of Elberfeld in 1900 to become mayor of the city and moved there on January 15th. Funck was described by contemporaries as an extremely "uncomfortable head of the city". It was said that he caused a lot of scandal in the town hall and that he was never a friend of the left. He retired on May 31, 1919, and a few months later, on September 20, 1919, he moved back to Minden.

From 1909 to 1918 he was a member of the provincial parliament of the Prussian Rhine Province for Barmen.
