Wilhelm Grashoff

Wilhelm Grashoff (born February 29, 1828 in Stolzenau , † May 19, 1903 in Meppen ) was an Evangelical Lutheran pastor.

Life

Wilhelm Grashoff was the son of a baker and came from a family from the county of Hoya, which named itself after the grass farm in Nendorf and later settled in Stolzenau. He studied Protestant theology at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen from 1847 and became a member of the Corps Hanseatia II Göttingen on January 22, 1848 , which on February 19, 1848 took over and continued the tradition, names and colors of the corps Hannovera Göttingen , which was suspended at the time . After passing his exams he got his first job as second pastor in Quakenbrück . In 1858 he became pastor of the newly built Evangelical Church in Meppen and looked after this diaspora community until his death. He founded an evangelical confirmation institution in Meppen in 1868 and became superintendent in Meppen in 1873 . In 1881 he was elected to the Consistorial Council after he had already been passed over in the relevant election . In 1882, Grasshoff was the founder and first director of the Association for Inner Mission in Osnabrück . He was the author of numerous theological writings.

Wilhelm Grashoff was married to Elsbeth Sophie Gebhard. The marriage resulted in four sons and a daughter, including the administrative lawyer Hans Grashoff .
