Wilhelm Heinrich Breidenbach (born February 25, 1833 in Wiesdorf , today a district of Leverkusen ; † March 7, 1923 there ) was a Leverkusen farmer and local politician .

Life

Wilhelm Heinrich Breidenbach was born on February 25, 1833 in Wiesdorf. As a farmer, he ran the Breidenbach farm on Kölner Strasse not far from the old Dhünnbrücke , which was demolished in 1963 as part of the expansion of Bundesstrasse 8 .

Breidenbach was a member of the Wiesdorf municipal council from 1863 to 1919 , and from 1871 also the head of the municipality . In 1890 he was elected First Alderman of the Küppersteg mayor , formed a year earlier from the communities of Wiesdorf and Bürrig , and held this office until 1920. In addition, from 1892 he was a member of the district council .

Because of his great political and social commitment, he was highly respected and valued by the population. Due to his numerous services to the well-being of the community and its residents, he was awarded the Prussian Order of the Crown and the Order of the Red Eagle, 4th class .

Wilhelm Heinrich Breidenbach died on March 7th, 1923 at the old age of 90 and was buried on March 10th with great sympathy by the population in the municipal cemetery on Manforter Straße.

Breidenbach married the landowner's daughter Josefine Thurn (1829–1873) from Wiesdorf in 1864. The first daughter Gertrud (1867–1943) comes from this marriage. After the death of his first wife, he married Maria Gertrud Velder (1846-1896), who gave him another daughter (Maria, 1876-1926).

Honors

On February 13, 1913, Breidenbachstrasse in Wiesdorf was named after him.
