Wilhelm Hille

Wilhelm Hille (born February 16, 1803 in Veltheim (Ohe) , † October 2, 1880 in Wolfenbüttel ) was a German Lutheran theologian and 52nd Abbot of Amelungsborn .

Life

Hille, son of a pastor, attended high school in Wolfenbüttel from Michaelis 1813 and then studied theology and philosophy in Göttingen until Easter 1824 . In July 1824 he became a collaborator at the high school in Wolfenbüttel, and at Easter 1827 a teacher at the high school in Helmstedt. After the main theological exam, he became a pastor in Marienthal in 1833. A year later he also became superintendent of the Vorsfelde inspection . In 1840 he came to Helmstedt as pastor prim., General and special superintendent and ephorus of the grammar school, where he also gave religious instruction in 1844/45. At Easter 1845 he was appointed consistorial councilor in Wolfenbüttel. During his term of office, among other things, the reorganization of the higher education system in the Duchy of Braunschweig falls .

In 1845 Hille Theodor Wilhelm Heinrich Bank followed as abbot of the Amelungsborn monastery. From 1857 he was chairman of the commission for examining candidates for the higher education office.

He retired in May 1875. He lived in Stadtoldendorf from 1876 to 1878, then settled down again in Wolfenbüttel, where he was a member of the high school's board of trustees.

Awards

Wilhelm Hille received an honorary doctorate from the Theological Faculty of the University of Jena in 1842 . In 1874 he was awarded the Commander's Cross 1st Class of the Order of Henry the Lion .
