Wilhelm Kücker

Wilhelm Kücker (* 1933 in Celle ; † October 30, 2014 in Munich ) was a German architect and author.

Kücker studied architecture in Munich, Vienna and Zurich and subsequently worked as a freelance architect in Munich and Berlin. Since 1975 he has been an honorary professor at the Technical University of Munich . From 1983 to 1987 he was President of the Association of German Architects (BDA), from 1987 to 1990 he was Vice President of the Union Internationale des Architectes (UIA), Paris .

In retrospect, Kücker's book The Ego of the Architect takes a critical look at the architecture of the modern age , which shaped his training and his own architectural work throughout his life. Kücker's pamphlet deals, among other things, with Le Corbusier and his tendency towards totalitarianism , with the Bauhaus and with the current phenomenon of star architecture.
