Wilhelm Kaiser-Lindemann
Wilhelm Kaiser-Lindemann (born March 21, 1940 in Viersen ; † November 17, 2010 in Preetz ) was a contemporary German composer and horn player .
Life
Wilhelm Kaiser-Lindemann received his first lessons in organ and piano as well as music theory from his father, who was also a musician ( organist , music teacher, choir director and composer) at an early age . So he was able to represent him in the organist's service at the age of 12. At the age of 18, he began studying at the Cologne University of Music , where he was instructed in French horn by Kurt Stein and piano by Michael Braunfels . Further studies took him to Hamburg in the 1960s (composition with Ernst-Gernot Klußmann , conducting with Albert Bittner ). Since 1987 Kaiser-Lindemann has made regular study trips to South India to familiarize himself with Indian music . He earned his living as a horn player in various orchestras, such as the West German Mozart Orchestra, Soest, the Nordmark Symphony Orchestra , Flensburg (today's Schleswig-Holstein Symphony Orchestra , 1961–1974) and the Kiel Philharmonic (1974–1998) . For health reasons, Wilhelm Kaiser-Lindemann resigned from orchestral service in 1998 and from then on devoted himself increasingly to composing.
Works
The five completed symphonies, which are characterized by an expressive, extremely colorful orchestral treatment and, despite all their individuality, nevertheless effortlessly fit into the tradition of the great symphonies of the late 19th and 20th centuries ( Mahler , Shostakovich , Pettersson, etc.) can be considered the main works of Kaiser-Lindemann .) insert.
