Wilhelm Kersten-Thiele

Wilhelm Kersten-Thiele (born September 12, 1913 in Dortmund , † December 8, 1988 in Göttingen ) was a German theologian and missiologist .

Life

Kersten-Thiele passed his Abitur and studied Protestant theology . He was particularly interested in religious studies and mission history . After completing his Vicariate , he was appointed pastor ordained . Kersten-Thiele earned his doctorate in theology.

He was married to Valeska Kersten-Thiele geb. Strauch, with whom he fathered five children: Peter, Renate, Gisela, Ulrich and Klaus.

Kersten-Thiele held one of his pastoral posts in Koethen . He represented the völkisch nationalist positions of the German Christians and declared in 1939 that he was working at the institute for research and elimination of the Jewish influence on German church life .

After 1945, Kersten-Thiele worked on the board of the German East Asia Mission and published several books in line with it. In 1948 he was pastor in Göttingen-Grone and in 1954 in Düsseldorf . From 1960 to 1964 he was a religion teacher at the Rethel-Gymnasium (or Jacobi-Gymnasium) Düsseldorf and between 1968 and 1973 he was a pastor in Sereetz . Then he went back to the Rheinische Landeskirche.
