Wilhelm Knoll (born June 23, 1873 in Bachhaupten ; † August 31, 1947 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German politician ( center ).

Live and act

Wilhelm Knoll came from a Catholic, Württemberg - Hohenzollern family. He was born in Bachhaupten near Ostrach in 1873. His parents were the farmer Alois Knoll and his wife Genovefa, née Frank. After attending primary school, Knoll trained as a blacksmith . After working in this profession for a few years, he married Agathe Knoll, née Dörflinger, in Mainz in 1903. In the same year he became chairman of the Christian trade union cartel in Mainz, a position he would hold until 1917. From 1906 he also served as a workers secretary and head of the Catholic People's Office.

After the First World War , Knoll began to be more politically active. In 1919 he entered the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse for the Center Party , to which he belonged for three sessions until February 2, 1925. Then Karl Felder took over Knoll's mandate. In 1922 he became a councilor and later a senior councilor in the Ministry of Labor and Economics of the People's State of Hesse .

From 1924 to 1928 and from 1932 to 1933 Knoll was a member of his party in the Reichstag in Berlin.

One of his daughters was the sports editor, journalist and later press officer for the city of Frankfurt: Helli Knoll .
