Wilhelm Lichtenheld

Wilhelm Lichtenheld (born October 13, 1817 in Hamburg , † March 25, 1891 in Munich ) was a German architecture and landscape painter .

Born the son of an actor at the Hamburg City Theater , Lichtenheld studied for a year at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich from July 2, 1839 .

He then copied works by old masters in the Alte Pinakothek , which meant self-taught training for him. Lichtenheld also painted his own works, initially genre pictures, later mainly romantic landscapes, often at Mondscbhein. In 1840 he became a member of the Munich Art Association and began to participate in its art exhibitions. He went on a study trip to Italy and visited a. a. Venice .

Wilhelm Lichtenheld was buried in the grave of the Munich artists' association in the Old North Cemetery in Munich's Maxvorstadt .
