Wilhelm Loisel (born November 2, 1914 in Ebenthal ; † May 17, 2005 in Pörtschach ) was an Austrian painter .

Life

As the first son of the academic painter Dominik Loisel, Wilhelm Loisel became familiar with drawing at an early age, which he did as a child to pass the time. His father was a regionally known artist who was also an art teacher first at the Linz and then at the Klagenfurt secondary school .

He completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1932 to 1936 with the teaching examination for drawing and art history . He taught at various secondary schools in Carinthia , and from 1941 he was a soldier in World War II . After returning from captivity, he decided to become a freelance artist. He now turned mainly to nature and devoted himself to depicting landscapes and flowers in watercolor and oil. In the quiet winter months he built up a graphic work. His preference was for the Carinthian milieu, as well as the various flowers and animals. Loisel was probably influenced by his father and his academic teachers Larwin , Martin and Fahringer and is one of Austria's conservative artists.

He mainly saw nature in its diversity as the greatest teacher. He retained his naturalistic style in more than 50 years of artistic creation, which is evident in a complete work of countless watercolors, an equally large number of oil paintings and hundreds of etchings . In 1994 Loisel was awarded the Great Decoration of Honor of the State of Carinthia .
