Jana Revedin (* 1965 in Konstanz ) is a German architect , architectural theorist and author . She lives and works in Wernberg , Carinthia , and in Venice .

Life

After studying architecture and urban planning in Buenos Aires , at Princeton University and in Milan , she did her doctorate and habilitation at the University of Venice on the understanding of public space as a catalyst for democratic self-image in German modernism (tutor Aldo Rossi ) and is now Full professor of architecture and urban planning at the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris and at the Ecole supérieure d'architecture at the University of Lyon .

As the author of standard works on architectural theory, she specializes in the German reform avant-garde , whose social and ecological demands make her the benchmark for contemporary sustainable architecture and urban development.

Her biographical novel on the life of Ise Frank , Walter Gropius' second wife and pioneer of the Bauhaus idea (Spiegel bestseller), was nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2019 and, as a 3sat film adaptation, for the 2019 Grimme Prize .

Revedin is co-founder and chairwoman of the LOCUS Foundation , which awards the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture .
