Wilhelm Ludwig Demme

Wilhelm Ludwig Demme (born March 20, 1801 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia , † March 26, 1878 in Würzburg ) was a German lawyer and writer .

Demme is the son of the writer and pulpit speaker Hermann Christoph Gottfried Demme . During his studies he became a member of the Jena fraternity in 1820 . He started working as a lawyer in Altenburg in 1826 . In 1849 he took up residence in Jena , in 1850 in Würzburg, then in Hildburghausen , and finally back in Würzburg. He made a name for himself in particular as the continuation of Julius Eduard Hitzig's “Annals of German and Foreign Criminal Justice” (Leipz. 1837–52) and for the “Book of Crimes” (das. 1851–1854, 8 vols.).
