Wilhelm Mommsen (politician)

Christian Wilhelm Agapetus Mommsen (born August 18, 1852 in Hamburg-St. Georg , † March 15, 1901 in Hanover ) was a German judge and politician .

Mommsen was the son of the vice-principal Prof. Dr. Johann August Wilhelm Mommsen in Schleswig and his wife Marie Rosalie née Herzog. On May 12, 1888, he married Martha Marie Caroline Luise Carstens from Hamburg. He attended the Schleswig high school , where he passed the Abitur in 1870. He then studied law in Kiel, Leipzig and Bonn from 1870 to 1874. In 1875 he was trainee lawyer and from 1879 to 1881 court assessor in Schleswig, Hanover, Altona and Limburg an der Lahn. In 1881 he was appointed magistrate in Pyrmont , where he was promoted to magistrate in 1893. In 1899 he moved to Hanover as a district judge .

From 1890 to 1898 he was a member of the state parliament of the Principality of Waldeck-Pyrmont . He was elected in the constituency of Pyrmont. In 1891 and from 1894 to 1898 he was Vice President of the State Parliament.
