Wilhelm Reichart

Wilhelm Reichart (born May 3, 1915 in Bregenz , † August 30, 1997 in Hard ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP / FPÖ ) and high school professor. From 1949 to 1974 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

After attending elementary school in Bregenz for five years, Reichart switched to the Bregenz grammar school, where he passed the Matura . He then studied Classical Philology and History at the University of Vienna and passed the teaching examination in 1939. In addition, he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1939 to January 1940 he worked as a grammar school professor at the State High School in Vienna- Währing and then did his military service in World War II from 1940. In July 1945 he returned from captivity and in September 1945 became a high school professor in Bregenz. After working as a grammar school director from July 1980 to December 1980, Reichart retired in 1981.

Politics and functions

Reichart was a member of the MKV secondary school association Kustersberg Bregenz during his school days and was then a member of the CV association Norika Vienna. He became a member of the Fatherland Front on March 9, 1934 and was a member of it until the National Socialists came to power. Then Reichart became a member of the National Socialist Air Corps in May 1938 , to which he belonged until December 1939. From December 1939 he was a member of the National Socialist teachers' association . After the end of the Second World War, Reichart became a party member of the ÖVP and the ÖAAB in 1947 , resigned from the ÖVP on August 14, 1959 and joined the FPÖ in 1959. 1973 Reichart also resigned from the FPÖ.

In terms of local politics, Reichart worked from June 6, 1947 to May 13, 1950 as a member of the city ​​council of Bregenz, where he led the fire brigade, school system, rescue department, library, music school and was a member of the housing, building and tourism committee. As a representative of the FPÖ, he was again a member of the city ​​council from April 3, 1960 to May 16, 1975 and was a member of the personnel, housing, school and culture committee. He was also a member of the local school council and a member of the main committee of the festival community and the monitoring committee of the KFA. As a member of the electoral district of Bregenz , he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from October 25, 1959 to November 3, 1974 , although he was non-attached from August 1, 1973. In the state parliament he was a member of the legal, educational and popular education committee as well as a member of the social policy committee. Most recently he was also chairman of the culture committee.

Within the party, Reichart was a member of the state party leadership of the ÖVP Vorarlberg from 1949 to 1959 and a member of the state party council of the ÖVP Vorarlberg from 1950 to 1959. Furthermore, he was city party chairman of the ÖVP Bregenz and board member of the ÖAAB Vorarlberg.

Private

Reichart was the son of the ship's cashier Theodor Reichart and his wife Theresia Reichart, née Schott. Reichart was unmarried.
