Wilhelm Schütze (born July 19, 1840 in Kaufbeuren , † May 13, 1898 in Munich ) was a German genre painter .
Life
Schütze was born in Kaufbeuren in 1840 as the son of a tool smith. In 1858 he was accepted into the class of antiquities at the Munich Art Academy and studied with Sándor Wagner . After graduation, Schütze settled in Munich and worked as a freelance artist. Pictures by Schütze can be found in the Neue Pinakothek in Munich and in the Chemnitz City Art Collection .

Schütze mainly painted motifs with children in everyday rural scenes, but also in court life. His pictures are characterized by groups of people in typically childlike poses with lively expression. Its coloring is determined by warm, tinted and yet bright colors. Technically, he belongs to the Munich School , but an influence of the Vienna School can also be seen in his work.
