Wilhelm Sieß
Wilhelm Sieß (born May 4, 1883 in Lindau , † July 7, 1936 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian politician ( SDAP ). Sieß was the first president of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Labor from 1921 to 1933 and a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1928 to 1934 .

Wilhelm Sieß was born on May 4, 1883 in Aeschach , a district of the German city of Lindau. His parents, Alexander Wilhelm Sieß and his wife Maria came from the Tyrolean community of Grins in the Landeck district . He then attended the elementary and community school in Bludenz and joined the kk state railways at the age of 18 , where he remained in various positions until he was forced to retire. On September 16, 1907, Wilhelm Sieß married Maria Paula Reis, a factory worker in Absam , with whom he subsequently had four children. Sieß did military service from 1914 to 1918.
Sieß first became politically active as a member of the Bludenz city council for the Social Democratic Party. From 1919 to 1934 he was also a city councilor in his home town of Bludenz. In 1921 Wilhelm Sieß was a founding member of the Vorarlberg Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees and became its first President and Councilor . On November 6, 1923, Sieß entered the Vorarlberg state parliament for the first time for the Social Democrats as a member of the Bludenz electoral district . There he worked until 1934, when the political activity of social democratic officials was banned in the Austro-Fascist corporate state .
