Wilhelm Spickernagel

Wilhelm Spickernagel , also Spieckernagel (born February 25, 1890 in Groß Bülten , † August 8, 1928 in Berlin-Nikolassee ) was a German journalist , writer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of an accountant , Spickernagel studied German in Marburg , Strasbourg and Greifswald after attending the upper secondary school at Clevertor in Hanover . During his studies he became a member of the Arminia Marburg fraternity in 1908 . In 1911 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . After completing his studies, he worked for the Niedersächsisches Wochenblatt and the Hannöverschen Kurier . In 1912 he became a one-year volunteer . He was the managing director of the National Liberal Party and editor of the Westphalian Political News in Dortmund . He was badly wounded in the First World War and after his recovery he was head of department at the Deputy General Command in Hanover. After the war he worked as a freelance writer and in 1921 became a silent partner in the Hamburger Nachrichten , for which he wrote numerous leading articles . In 1923 he became a consultant in the press department of the Reich government in Berlin . In 1924 he became a member of the Prussian state parliament for the German People's Party . He was also press chief of the German Association of Cities .
