Wilhelm Valckenberg (politician, 1844)

Wilhelm Josef Dieudonné Valckenberg (born March 19, 1844 in Worms ; † September 27, 1914 there ) was a German manufacturer and member of the state parliament.

Wilhelm Valckenberg was the son of the wine merchant and boss of the company Peter Joseph Valckenberg in Worms Franz Peter Joseph Valckenberg (1812-1854) and his wife Maria, née Urbach (1819-1852). His grandfather was the wine merchant and member of the state parliament Wilhelm Valckenberg (1790–1847). Wilhelm Valckenberg, who was a Catholic denomination, married Amalie, born Bollermann (born November 21, 1857 in Worms) on August 14, 1877 in Worms, the daughter of the tax council Caspar Eduard Bollermann and his wife Amalie Eleonore Bittel. The following children were born from the marriage:

  • Tina Lauteren, b. Valckenberg (* 1878); married in 1906 to Clemens Lauteren , wine merchant in Mainz
  • Asteria Countess von Korff, called Schmising-Kerssenbrock, b. Valckenberg (* 1881); married in 1908 to the forester and major Augustin Graf von Korff, called Schmising-Kerssenbrock
  • Hans Dieudonné Valckenberg (* 1885), factory owner, married in 1914 to Dorette von Bothmer

Wilhelm Valckenberg was the founder of the worsted spinning mills in Worms. In 1868, together with Julius Cornelius Schoen, he founded the Valckenberg & Schoen synthetic wool factory in Worms. This was taken over by Valckenberg in 1892 and since then has operated as the WJD Valckenberg GmbH cloth factory . In 1900 he was awarded the title of Privy Councilor of Commerce.

He was a member of the city council in Worms. From 1909 to 1914 he was a member of the First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse for life.
