Wilhelm Weinreis
Wilhelm Weinreis (born November 10, 1872 in Friesdorf ; † August 13, 1906 in Bonn ) was a German architect and building contractor who worked in his hometown of Bonn and the then city of Godesberg .
Live and act
Weinreis, the son of a master mason, came from Friesdorf ( incorporated in Godesberg in 1904 ), where he grew up and first settled as an architect. Presumably in 1899 he moved to the southern part of Bonn (Bonner Talweg 14). In 1901 he had a house built according to his own plans in the Art Nouveau style (Prinz-Albert-Straße 50). His company last traded as a Bureau for Architecture and Construction . With 25 houses designed by him, he was one of the more important architects in Bonn's Südstadt, one of the largest, closed, preserved Wilhelminian style residential areas in Germany. In 1901/02 the synagogue in Poppelsdorf was created in the atypical Moorish style, for which he had designed several variants , as his most important work to date . In 1903 he was commissioned with the Guier mausoleum in the Godesberg castle cemetery for another sacred building, which he also designed in Moorish form, but was ultimately only entrusted with the execution according to plans by the government architect August Senz .
Weinreis died in his house in Bonn's Südstadt and was buried on August 16, 1906 in Kessenich .
