Wilhelm van Bekkum SVD (born March 13, 1910 in Achterveld , Netherlands ; † February 11, 1998 ) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Ruteng .

Life

Wilhelm van Bekkum joined the Congregation of the Divine Word Missionaries in and received on 18 August 1935, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On March 8, 1951, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Tigias and ordered him for the first Apostolic Vicar of Ruteng. The retired Apostolic Vicar of the Lesser Sunda Islands , Heinrich Leven SVD, donated him the episcopal ordination on May 13 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the Vicar Apostolic of Larantuka , Gabriel Wilhelmus Manek SVD, and the Vicar Apostolic of Endeh, Antoine Hubert Thijssen SVD. On January 3, 1961 Wilhelm van Bekkum was elected as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Vicariate Ruteng to the diocese of Pope John XXIII. appointed first bishop of Ruteng.

Wilhelm van Bekkum resigned as Bishop of Ruteng on March 10, 1972.
