history

The diocese Ruteng was on March 8, 1951 by Pope Pius XII. Established from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Lesser Sunda Islands as Apostolic Vicariate Ruteng . The Apostolic Vicariate Ruteng was on January 3, 1961 by Pope John XXIII. with the Apostolic Constitution Quod Christ raised to the diocese and subordinated to the archdiocese of Ende as a suffragan .
