The Diocese of Banjarmasin ( Latin Dioecesis Bangiarmasina , Indonesian Keuskupan Banjarmasin ) is in Indonesia located Roman Catholic diocese based in Banjarmasin .

history

Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Prefecture Surabaia on May 21, 1938 from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate of Dutch Borneo . With the Apostolic Constitution Quo enascentium she was raised to the rank of Apostolic Vicariate on March 10, 1949 .

It was raised on January 3, 1961 to the diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Pontianak as a suffragan . On August 22, 1973, it took on its current name. On January 29, 2003 it became part of the new ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Samarinda .

It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
